Talent is everywhere, and especially in the G-League! Below are some G-League standouts that deserve a real shot to crack an NBA rotation.
Mason Jones – Mexico City Capitanes
The leading scorer in the G-League, Jones is a sharpshooter that pours in buckets every single game. A product of the Arkansas Razorbacks, Jones has been dominating the G-League with 26 PPG, 6 APG, and 5 RPG on 53/38/84 shooting splits. Those are some serious numbers that have to get the attention of NBA teams. Now, I am unsure of how much Jones’ scoring would translate to the NBA since he will never be a top option for a team. But his efficient shooting and ballhandling abilities should be enough to give him a chance and that’s all you can ask for at this level!
Mac McClung – Delaware Blue Coats
Known for his insane hops and dunks, McClung has quietly put together a very strong season as a complete player. McClung is averaging 19 PPG, 5 APG, and 3 RPG on 55/46/80 shooting splits. And that 46% 3P% is on high volume too at 5 attempts per game! He’s more than a flashy dunker people! I truly believe that in the right situation, McClung can be a solid contributor off the bench in the NBA. Now, is that with the 76ers? Maybe not, but maybe he can find a home this offseason with a team that needs smart and efficient play off the bench.
Marko Simonovic – Windy City Bulls
A 7 footer with 3 point shooting, Simonovic is a dangerous combination that adds another dimension to a team. The 23 year old is a former 2nd round pick for the Chicago Bulls and has averaged 16 PPG and 10 RPG on 53/41/79 shooting. Those are very respectable numbers for a stretch big. If I’m either the Bulls or another team looking for young talent, I’m taking a chance on Simonovic and giving him some developmental PT to see if his unique skillset is a fit in the league.
